We are a family run company based in Cornwall and have been busy supplying Bear Makers with a range of fabrics, components and accessories since April 2000.

It all started back in 1999.  Having made an un-jointed fabric teddy bear at a sewing group I attend I decided I would like to make a ‘real’ teddy bear.  After a long and difficult search for the necessary fabrics, components and patterns to make this bear my daughter, Emma, suggested that it would probably be a good idea to start our own supply business – after all if we had such a problem then probably other people living in the South West did – such wise words from an 11 year old!!!

Our trading name of EMMARY BEARS is a combination of Emma and Mary – it took us a few days to come up with the name but we quickly became known for our large and varied stock of patterns, kits, hand dyed mohair and accessories.

We aim to provide our customers with interesting and innovative fabric which we hand dye ourselves – I now have the whole family busy trying out new techniques and colour combinations and it still gives me a great deal of enjoyment to see the resulting bears made from our fabrics at the various Bear Fairs we attend around the country.

Although Cornwall is a beautiful county it does present certain logistical problems, particularly the traveling involved in attending Bear Fairs – to this end Emmary Bears teamed up with Teddies of Trenode and we now organize our own Cornwall Summer Bear Fair here in Cornwall.  This ensures that Bear Lovers in the far South West do not have to travel too far to enjoy their hobby and we are proud to be able to attract some of the top names in the country to our Bear Fair.

We attend the two Hugglets Fairs in London each year and our own Bear Fair.  We are quite proud of our website and the on line ordering facilities - a steep learning curve but well worth the effort !!

We thoroughly enjoy meeting up with customers at the fairs and talking to them via the internet or on the phone - we intend to continue to produce our unique mohair’s and maintain our varied and interesting selection of kits, patterns and accessories.
